Enrollment opportunities for 4 and 5 year olds in the 2012-13 School Year, beginning August 20th, 2012.

The Early Childhood Development Center, Inc. (ECDC), founded in 1971, is a nonprofit early care and education program serving children ages two through kindergarten during the school year and ages two and one-half through nine during the summer. Both part time and full time enrollment schedules are available during the school year and the summer, including traditional preschool schedules and a full day child care schedule. ECDC is licensed by the Indiana Department of Child Care and is accredited with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
ECDC operates two programs, one on the campus of Saint Mary's College and the other on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. ECDC at Saint Mary’s College (ECDC-SMC) serves children ages three, four and five during the school year and extends through age nine during the summer. ECDC at Notre Dame (ECDC-ND) serves children ages two through kindergarten during the school year and serves children ages two and one-half through age nine during the summer. Both ECDC programs are governed by one Board of Directors and operate with the same educational philosophy, curriculum, parent involvement, college student involvement and enrichment opportunities for children and families. ECDC is partially funded by Saint Mary's College and the University of Notre Dame to serve their communities. The ECDC-SMC is open to the public. ECDC-ND only enrolls
families affiliated to ND and SMC.
ECDC is one of a small and elite group of NAEYC accredited programs. Early childhood programs accredited by NAEYC's National Academy of Early Childhood Programs have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study, invited external professional review to document compliance with Criteria for High-Quality Early Childhood Programs, and been found to be in compliance with the Criteria. The Criteria can be found on NAEYC's Web site at www.naeyc.org/accreditation.
ECDC serves as an early childhood leader in the community, in the state and nationally through the administration of grants and facilitation of activities in our community that support early childhood quality and training initiatives. ECDC is active with NAEYC, IAEYC, International Reading Association (IRA), Early Childhood Professionals of Northern Indiana (ECPNI), Earl Childhood Conference at IUSB, National Coalition of Campus Children's Centers (NCCCC), Indiana Coalition of Campus Children’s Centers (ICCCC) and other early childhood committees and organizations.
