On
to hair. Sally at Sally and Company did an amazing job talking
to Vicki to find out what her daily routine is. Sally said "a
lot of people might want a new look or a completely different
hairstyle, but if they're not used to spending time on their
hair, a complicated look won't work for them." For Vicki, Sally
enriched her hair with a beautiful summer chestnut color, with
subtle sun-kissed highlights. She also gave Vicki a new updated
cut that instantly took off 10 years!
Hair
Tips from Sally:
Brush
your hair. As we age, go through stressful times or take medications
- our hair can thin. The old adage our grandmothers told us
about brushing our hair 50 strokes on each side has some truth.
Take 3-5 minutes every other day to brush your hair. It will
help to relieve stress in your scalp, encourage growth of new
hair, and help to thicken the hair you have.
Bangs
are a great way to look younger.
As
we age, we think that longer hair looks more youthful. This
isn't always true for everyone, but you can still get the long
hair feeling and look by keeping the front of your hair longer,
with a shorter length in the back. As we age also we should
lighten our hair up a tad -you know how Vicki looked with the
dark hair and fair skin. Famous hair stylists say what ever
color your hair was when you were 3 or 4 is what you should
be after 50.
Vicki's
next stop was at EyeSite Optical Boutique. Everyone who stops
into EyeSite Optical leaves feeling appreciated and like they
have met a new friend. Dr. Kristina Swartz prides herself on
working with each client to make sure that not only are their
vision needs being met in the best way, but also to help clients
look at the shape of their face in determining the right style
glasses. When choosing new frames, the first decision to make
is if you want people to remember you for your glasses, or if
you want the frames to be a part of your face. There are a lot
of styles that are very fashionable the meet the mark on both
accounts.
Vicki
found some great frames that shoot the gap between trendy and
sophisticated. Her green frameless glasses are super hot!
A
visit with Dr. Brian Coulter from Coulter Family Dentistry was
next on the agenda. Dr. Coulter reviewed Vicki's dental history,
and determined that tooth whitening would be a great way to
enhance Vicki's already beautiful smile. Vicki underwent a Zoom
Whitening treatment. The difference is amazing!
When
someone is considering tooth whitening, Dr. Coulter said there
are a few things to keep in mind:
If
you have any dental work like an artificial tooth or a crown,
these things will not whiten. You should whiten your teeth to
the brightness you want, and then replace the crown (for example)
to match.
How
white your teeth should be is something many people wonder about.
Although this is something that is left up to an individual's
preference, there is one guide that can help in the process.
The brightness of your teeth should match the brightness of
the whites of your eyes. This natural balance is why tooth whitening
is one thing that can make the biggest difference in a makeover
experience.
Maintenance
is key to the success of a whitening treatment. Once someone
undergoes a Zoom Whitening procedure, they should keep whitening
each night for at least a week following the initial treatment.
Monthly maintenance is necessary for a long-term bright white
smile.
Next,
a visit to Dr. Todd Rozycki. Dr. Rozycki is a board certified
dermatologist with the South Bend Clinic. Dr. Rozycki gave Vicki
a complete dermatological exam of her skin, offered her some
helpful tips on sunscreen, anti aging products and answered
those questions we all have about dermatological procedures
like Botox, Resylane, chemical peels and laser treatments.
Then
Vicki was sent to Camellia The Makeup Store for some final touches
on her new look. Gabrielle, makeup artist, was glad to help
Vicki find a new regimen of cleansing and moisturizing products
as well as makeup.
Gabrielle
suggested Bare Minerals foundation for Vicki. Gabrielle said,
"This is the most popular foundation in the world. It is lightweight,
and especially good for people who don't want to feel a foundation
on their skin." This was exactly what Vicki was looking for!
Gabrielle also mentioned that primer is a great way to get a
flawless look under foundation. "Primer on the eyelids or on
the whole face will make your makeup more long lasting. Believe
me, once you try a primer, you will love it!"
Some
Makeup Tips from Gabrielle:
There
are a few things no woman should ever leave the house without.
One is a good foundation with a sunscreen. This is particularly
important in the summer. Even if you are just working in the
yard, you should always protect your skin with a tinted moisturizer.
In the summer, a fresh look can be achieved with a tinted moisturizer,
lip gloss and mascara. Very simple, fresh - perfect for summer.
Choose
a makeup shade that is a little darker than the skin on your
face. Most people get more color on their chest, hands and legs
in the summer than they do on their faces. Choosing a foundation
shade that is slightly darker will ensure that your look matches
- from head to toe!
Eye
makeup can make the biggest difference in your overall appearance,
and can easily make you look instantly younger. Remember to
keep color and detail 'up and out'. Highlight the outside of
your brown bone. Keep any thickness from eyeliner toward the
outside of your eye.
